Traffic Reporter Finalists Get Road Test This Week

Five Get One Last, Televised Audition

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – They auditioned and survived two cuts in a bid to become the TimeSaver Traffic reporter on the morning show . Every morning this week, one of them will get the ultimate screen test -- delivering the weather live on the program.

Here -- in alphabetical order -- are the five finalists you'll see this week:

Casey Black went to college in Charleston, is glad to be back in Jacksonville and to have the opportunity to give viewers traffic information.

"My biggest pet peeve would be rubbernecking, cell phones," Black said. "If you're going to go somewhere, go there."

Melanie Boyle is a recent Florida graduate is working as a substitute teacher right now, but still feeling her way when it comes to her future.

"I enjoy it, but I just don't know yet if that's my calling," Boyle said. "I have sixth-graders, and they're making the conversions ... so I don't know if I have that patience."

Jennifer Edwards just moved to the area from Green Bay, Wis., and is glad to be in Florida.

"I'm a southern girl at heart," Edwards said. "I grew up in the South, went to the college. So I'm so happy to be back in the South in the warm weather."

Valerie Jones is a Miami native and University of Florida graduate who has lived in Jacksonville for the last five year.

"I believe I have the personality and energy to wake up everybody in the morning," Jones said. "It's just getting used to the roads and saying it."

Michele Wright describes herself as a "quick learner." She was a Jacksonville Jaguars cheerleader in the team's inaugural year while holding down a full-time job.

"We were required to have a career, so either you were a full-time student or you were to be involved in a career," Wright said. "It was difficult to do but it's determination that you have and it was so nice to be a part of the first year."
