Woman Testifies She Saw Murder Victim Kidnapped At Gunpoint

WOODBINE, Ga. – A Jacksonville, Fla., woman who has pleaded guilty to her role in the kidnapping of a Brunswick woman who was killed in 2001 testified Tuesday against one of the two men accused of the murder.

Gregory Walker Jr., 26, is on trial for the murder of 23-year-old Jenieka Murphy.

Denise Johnson-Green of told the Camden County jury that she was ordered by Walker and a co-defendant, Shedrick Tate, to drive them around the night of June 8, 2001.

She said the two men ordered Murphy into the car at gunpoint, then Johnson-Green was told to drive them to Refuge Road, near Woodbine, where she let the there out and drove around until she was called on her cell phone to come pick them up.

Prosecutors said Murphy was shot seven times in the head. Her body was found on Refuge Road at 7 a.m. June 9.

She said she was then told to go to Wal-Mart, buy cleaning supplies and clean out the back seat of the car.

Johnson-Green said she did as she was told because feared for her life and the lives of her family in Jacksonville. She has plead guilty to kidnapping and faces 10 years in prison.

Walker's attorney, Richard Allen, said she made up parts of the story because she was a romantic rival of Murphy. Allen said she and Tate were the ones that killed Murphy.

Walker and Tate were arrested in Atlanta just over a week after the killing.

Walker is charged with murder, kidnapping and weapons charges. Prosecutors expect to seek the death penalty if Walker is convicted.

Tate will be tried separately later this year.
