JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After denying a motion for a retrial Monday morning, Circuit Judge Peter Dearing sentenced convicted murderer Robert Denney to life in prison with no possibility of parole.
Denney was convicted late last month of killing Atlantic Beach waitress Corey Parker in 1998.

The medical examiner said she was stabbed more than 100 times -- half of the wounds delivered after she was already dead.
It took a Jacksonville jury less than an hour to convict Denney after a three-week trial that relied heavily on DNA evidence.
Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty as Denney was only 17 at the time of the murder.
Denney chose not to address the court at the brief sentencing hearing, but Parker's father had a message for his daughter's killer after the sentence was handed down.
"It is comforting to know you'll be locked up for the rest of your life, unable to do this to anyone else," said Bruce Parker.
