JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Finding out her son was killed was hard, but Kimberly Wilson said Thursday was even harder because she learned that detectives closed the books on her son's case.
Wilson's son, 17-year-old William Flournoy, died from multiple gunshot wounds after the car in which he was sitting was shot up on Commonwealth Avenue in July of 2007.

"I think I did better the day he died than today," Wilson said.
She said police told her the investigation was at a standstill because of a lack of cooperation from witnesses.
The investigation into her son's death is now officially a cold case.
Wilson said detectives delivered to her a completed report full of details about her son's death when they told her they were closing the books on the case.
"Today, when I got that report, it opened it all back up for me -- all over again," Wilson said.
"I just can't seem to close it out in my life," said Flournoy's grandmother, Grace Ray.
Ray said the detectives may be done investigating but their family is still holding out hope that someone who knows something will come forward. She said the code of silence in Jacksonville must be broken or else what has happened to them will continue to happen to other families.
"They don't regard life today. He was someone's child. He was a human being. They need to stop all this killing and murdering," Ray said.
The teen's family is urging anyone with information about the 2007 shooting to call Crimestoppers at 866-845-TIPS. Callers will remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.
