JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man who pleaded guilty to killing his daughter's boyfriend was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison.
Carlos Dupree pleaded guilty in March to a lesser charge of manslaughter with a weapon to avoid a life sentence in the death of Garcia Bannister.

Authorities say Dupree confronted the 18-year-old in March 2012 because Dupree felt the younger man -- who was dating his daughter -- was disrespecting him.
Witnesses say Dupree punched Bannister and then went into his home, retrieved a butcher knife and stabbed him in the abdomen. Bannister was taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, where he died.
