Gun-range chain bans gun rentals after suicides

No description found

CASSELBERRY, Fla. – A chain of Central Florida gun shops has made a major change to try to keep customers safe.

The owner of Shoot Straight told WKMG-TV the company's eight Florida locations will no longer rent out guns to be used at its gun ranges.

Khaled Akkawi says he made the decision last month after the latest suicide at one of his shops.

Customers will still be able to use the ranges for target practice, but will now have to supply their own weapons.

The Apopka-based chain joins several other gun ranges in Central Florida that have put in place similar rules after nearly a dozen suicides over the past few years.
