JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after a woman in a car stopped on Interstate 95 early Saturday morning was hit by another vehicle, ejected and then struck by two other vehicles that kept going.
Troopers say a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Kimberly Gillespie was was stopped in a center northbound lane of I-95 just before 8th Street for an unknown reason.

Driver Allen Hand Jr.'s Chevrolet Impala struck the rear end of Gillespie's Scion TC and both vehicles slid into the guardrail on the wet highway, ejecting Gillespie. Hand, 30, told the FHP he didn't see the back of Gillespie's car because its tail lights were not on. Troopers also report low lighting in the area.
Gillespie was left lying unconscious in the center northbound travel lane of I-95, where troopers say two other unknown cars struck her.
Gillespie was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say she was not wearing a seat belt.
Hand was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with minor injuries.
