Man arrested in Mascara's Gentleman's Club killing in September

U.S. Marshals arrest 34-year-old in Winter Haven

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – U.S. Marshals have arrested a 34-year-old man in connection with the shooting death of a 21-year-old man in a Southside nightclub last year.

Lenard Anderson was arrested Tuesday night in Winter Haven in the killing of Brandon Green.

Green (pictured below with daughter) was shot and killed at Mascara's Gentlemen's Club near Beach and Southside boulevards in September after he bumped shoulders with Anderson, police said. They said Green walked to a different area of the bar and Anderson followed him, pulled out a hand gun and shot him one time.

U.S. marshals said they recovered a handgun at the house where Anderson was arrested. They said it will be tested to see if it's the gun used in the killing.

There was no word on when Anderson will be brought to the Duval County Jail.

Harriet McNeal, Green's mother, said the arrest is an answer to prayer.

"That was the best news I could hear," she said. "I was just so rejoiced and just glad another murderer is off the street."

McNeal put flowers on her son's grave Tuesday and said she told him they were getting close to finding justice. Not long after, she got a phone call from a detective with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office saying Anderson was arrested.

McNeal said her son's killing was such a senseless crime, and she misses her son every day.

"I just miss him coming in the house saying, 'Mama, what you cooking?' I miss washing his clothes. He always called to check on me. I miss him jumping in the bed with me acting silly."

After Green's death, his mother put a First Coast Crime Stoppers sign in her front yard. And although an arrest has been made in his killing, McNeal said she's not taking it down and wants to continue to support the other families in Jacksonville still looking for answers.

McNeal said she will be at every court appearance for Anderson and wants to know why her son was killed over something so small.
