Black bear hanging out in Daytona Beach hammock

Bear took a break after rummaging through trash in Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A large black bear is getting attention from around the world after he was spotted hanging out in a hammock behind a Daytona Beach home.

Rafael Torres was taking out the  trash at his home in the Pebble Creek subdivision off of Williamson Boulevard when he noticed something had gone through his trash.

Torres says that's when he grabbed his camera and found the bear climbing into the hammock of his neighbor's home to relax.

The bear stayed in the hammock for 15 to 20 minutes before getting up and roaming around the backyard. "He came up to the window, practically put his face right to the glass he was that close," said homeowner Vincent James. "He just looked and walked away."

No one was hurt during the encounter. Florida Fish and Wildlife workers say they aren't going to do anything since the bear wasn't threatening anyone.

James, meanwhile, has taken down the hammock.
