Man shot, killed in home invasion at mobile home park

JSO searching for two black men in early 20s with dreadlocks

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is searching for two men they believe shot and killed a man during a home invasion on the Westside Sunday night.

Police said the two men tried to rob a man at the Normandy Estates Mobile Home Park, then they followed him into his home, shooting and killing him.

Neighbors in the area told News4Jax the victim was 38-year-old Teodoro Rico.

The two men that police are looking for are considered armed and dangerous, and police are asking for the public's help in finding them.

"The first one I just heard and then the last two went off and I knew right then it was gunshots," said Jimmy Stepp.

Jimmy Stepp said he heard the gunshots from the home invasion Sunday night.

JSO said Rico was shot and killed during a home invasion in the Normandy Estates Mobile Home Park off of Normandy Boulevard.

They said two men tried to rob Rico and another person before they followed him inside his home. JSO said a struggle occurred before Rico was shot and killed.

Stepp said the crime has been in that area recently and said it's sad a man's life had to be taken.

"It's just been getting a lot worse here lately. He was a really good guy, a father," said Stepp.

Stepp said he's a friend of one of Rico's family members.

"I starting looking around, but didn't see anybody," Stepp said. "So I came inside and the next thing you know I heard the helicopters. So I come outside and come to find out, it is my cousin's buddy who was shot."

Kenia Aguilar said her husband is related to Rico and and says she now feels unsafe.

"I feel nervous especially now that I'm pregnant. it's sad news to find out someone is gone and is seen him like 30 minutes before all that happened," said Aguilar.

JSO said the suspects are two black men in their early 20s. They said both men have dreadlocks and one was wearing a basketball jersey.

Anyone with information about these suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.

A meeting for residents will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Normandy Estates.
