ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A staffer at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind is accused of kissing a teenage student.
Amber Blackmer, 26, was arrested June 10 and is charged with lewd and lascivious behavior with a child 12 to 16 years old.

According to the arrest warrant, she and the student were sitting on a couch June 1, facing each other, when they kissed each other. The arrest warrant also said Blackmer did not report the actions to her supervisor or anyone else.
Blackmer is out on $5,000 bond and is due back in court on Aug. 12.
Friday evening, FSDB President Jeanne Glidden Prickett sent this statement:
"Allegations of staff misconduct at Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB) are taken very seriously. They are reported as required by state and federal laws and regulations. This allegation of a former FSDB employee was directed to law enforcement authorities and the Florida Department of Children and Families. Currently, the State Attorney's Office is investigating and handling all aspects of the reported misconduct. Out of respect for this ongoing investigation and the parties involved the school declines to provide further comment."
