Man arrested in DUI after crashing into home

LIVE OAK, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol arrested a man after he crashed into a living room. Brett Williams, 33 of Thomasville, Georgia is charged with DUI 2nd offense with property damage, and reckless driving with property damage and injury.

FHP says Williams was travelling at a high rate of speed in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee when he ran the stop sign at the intersection of 169th Road and County Road 250. He left the roadway and hit a mailbox and continued travelling. He then hit a large dirt embankment and became airborne traveling 25 feet through the air.

The Jeep landed through a porch roof and crashed into the living room at a home  at 16906 CR-250. FHP says Williams attempted to back out of the house but became stuck. The incident happened at 2:27 a.m. Saturday morning.

The homeowners, Raymond and Cheryl Jackson were asleep in an adjacent room. Mrs. Jackson suffered minor injuries.
