JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Former Duval County tax collector and former Jacksonville mayoral candidate Mike Hogan has ended speculation he would make a second run against Alvin Brown by announcing his intentions to become the next Duval County Supervisor of Elections.
Friday, Hogan submitted a letter of resignation as chairman of the state's Public Employees Relations Commission to Gov. Rick Scott and the secretary of state saying he would be running for Duval County Supervisor of Elections.

Hogan was required to resign from the state position he was appointed to in 2011 after his failed mayoral run in order to enter politics again. The Public Employees Relations Commission job paid $100,000 per year.
"It has been a great honor and privilege to serve you, the public employees of Florida and the citizens of our great state," Hogan wrote in his letter of resignation. "It is with regret that, in compliance with the law, I am required to resign my position to run for Supervisor of Elections for Duval County."
