The incident apparently occurred several days ago at a home in Lake Mary. Police launched their investigation and made the arrest on Friday. It all came about after Zimmerman allegedly threw a wine bottle at a girlfriend, his lawyer Don West told reporters on Saturday morning.
Zimmerman appeared in court Saturday, with the judge setting his bond at $5000.
He was acquitted in 2013 for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
