Cat shot 25 times finds new home

No description found

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A cat found in Waycross, Georgia, shot more than two dozen times has found a new home.

Workers at First Coast No more Homeless Pets said a good Samaritan brought in the cat they've named Oliver. One of Oliver's hind legs had to be amputated due to a bullet wound, and X-rays showed that leg had been peppered with BBs.

Another shot into Oliver's head was stopped by the cheek bone.

One worker speculated that someone must have used Oliver for target practice.

"His front legs are OK. The right rear leg that he still has left he has neuralgic in it, which means he should have some difficulty in motor coordination," said Dr. Alana Canupp, one of the vets who treated Oliver.

In Oliver's X-rays, three different types of BB gun pellets were visible, as well as one larger-caliber bullet, which caused the most damage.

"It came in from this angle and I don't know how in the world this cat is alive," Canupp said. "It could easily have hit a major organ or artery, and he could be a dead cat."

Oliver's vet said even with everything he's been through, Oliver still loves people, and he now has a forever home.
