JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a scooter Thursday morning in a crash in Northwest Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said the pedestrian, later identified as 62-year-old Larry W. Hamric, was crossing New Kings Road at 5:43 a.m. when he was struck by the northbound scooter. Hamric died at the scene.
The rider, who has not been identified, was transported to UF Health Jacksonville with serious injuries.
All northbound lanes of New Kings Road at North Edgewood Avenue were closed until about 9:40 a.m. while the accident was investigated and cleared.
