JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The family of a man missing for over a week believed that a body found early Tuesday morning by people picking up trash at the intersection of Parkrus Land and Restlawn Drive was that of 37-year-old Damion Brooks.
On Friday, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office confirmed the identity.

Police did not give a cause of death.
Brooks' family said he was last seen in the same area about a week earlier. He was reported missing when he didn't show up for dinner with his extended family on June 14.
"He's a good father; a very well liked person," said Bridget Mitchell, a family friend. "Wen he didn't come Sunday, we just knew that something was wrong; something wasn't right."
Police at the time said they suspected foul play, but they were not sure of the circumstances that led to the body being found in the ditch.
In confirming Brooks' identity on Friday, police did not provide any additional information about the case.
Police are asking anyone that saw anything suspicious in that area or has any information that could help in their investigation call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
