JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Six weeks after 52-year-old Jackie Lee Harris was found murdered in his home, family members spoke to News4Jax.
Vikki Harris, Jackie Harris' sister, found peace at Fernandina Beach, calling it a place to reflect.
"He was such a good guy. He loved people. He loved fishing. He loved the outdoors," Vikki Harris said.
This is how Vikki Harris wants to remember her brother, not for the way he died.
"He didn't only murder my brother," she said, "but he or she murdered a piece of our family."
According to police, Jackie Harris was found shot to death in his unit at the La Esperanza apartment complex in late August. He had been shot multiple times. The apartment complex is located on University Boulevard on the city's Southside.
So far, no one has been arrested in the case and the investigation is ongoing.
Vikki Harris described her brother as having a "big heart." Vikki Harris remembered how despite struggles in his past, her brother was getting his life together.
Vikki Harris now wears a red and black ribbon to honor her brother and her mission is to find the person responsible.
"I'm trying to forgive. I feel I have forgave, but it would be easier for me to forgive if I knew who I was forgiving," Vikki Harris said.
