JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – This year marks 60 years the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair has brought food and fun to downtown. The fair opened Wednesday evening and lots of people enjoyed the sights and sounds of a fun-filled night.
The fair will be in Jacksonville until Nov. 15 at the fairgrounds off A. Phillip Randolph Boulevard.
People can enjoy the giant Ferris wheel, lots of games and prizes, and eat plenty of delicious food
News4Jax spoke to Jason Parsons, who plans to partake in all of the fun.
"I bought the mega tickets, that way unlimited rides, unlimited everything… Ya know, everything," Parsons said.
Natalie Walker and her daughter said they'll visit the fair at least four times while it's in town.
"We're glad that it's not the same weekend as Florida-Georgia weekend and Halloween, because this gives us some time and gives us something to do for November," Walker said.
The fair has some new attractions, like the live fair animals this year--including more than 350 butterflies.
"They come inside, they get little nectar sticks and they can come inside and actually feed the butterflies," said Jason Lurie.
This year's entertainment lineup include country music star Frankie Ballard, the Chris Thomas Band and many more. Between the food and fun, there are plenty of fan favorites.
"I like everything but the Ferris wheel. I don't like heights, I don't like anything that stops in the air," Walker said.
