Suspect charged in 2011 Gainesville cold case homicide

26-year-old Raymond Profit charged

Profit is accused of first-degree murder in the shooting death of a Gainesville man in 2011.

GAINESVILLE, Fla – The Gainesville Police Department has a man in custody for a cold case from 2011. 

26-year-old Raymond Profit was indicted by a Grand jury on Monday for the first-degree murder of Jeremy Meldau. He was shot and killed in Southwest Gainesville on March 29, 2011. According to GPD, the initial investigation showed the shooting happened during a drug-related robbery. Profit was identified as the prime suspect in the case.

Profit is currently at the Florida Department of Corrections facing charges for robbery, weapons violations, and felony drug possession.
