JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Friends and family gathered Saturday morning to remember a Jacksonville mother who was found dead two weeks ago on a street in LaVilla.
The funeral for 22-year-old Shalinda Rosier was held at Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Northwest Jacksonville.
Rosier was the mother of four children: a 1-year-old, a 2-year-old, a 3-year-old and a 5-year-old. Her children are sometimes separated because they have different fathers.
Friends and family came to remember a woman who they say had an amazing smile. Her older sister, Elizabeth Rosier, said Shalinda Rosier cared most for her children.
"She was a beautiful young lady taken too soon from this earth but God said it was her time and he called her home," she said.
Family members say she was at a party before her body was found near the intersection of North Myrtle Avenue and Dennis Street. Police said it was a homicide.
Her family is still asking for help finding her killer, because no arrests have been made. Her sister says she believes the person responsible will be found.
"Justice will be served... she did have a family. We're going to make sure justice gets served," said Elizabeth Rosier.
Rosier's family is just thinking about her children -- who will have to grow up without a mother.
"They still babies. they gonna grow up and know who their momma was. her memory is going to live on through the kids. The kids are a blessing," said Elizabeth Rosier.
Anyone who knows anything about what happened to Shalinda Rosier is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
