No suspect in killing of man at Westside apartment complex

No description found

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police continue searching for the gunman who killed 62-year-old Michael Wright at a Westside apartment complex on Easter Sunday.

Wright lived at the Hollybrook Apartments, a gated complex on King Street, on King Street, just south of Beaver Street.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said he was shot just after 10 a.m. Officers were already at the apartment complex investigating a separate incident when they got the call about a shooting in another building.

Officers said Wright was shot multiple times, which matches resident Courtney Evans description of the gunfire she heard before seeing Wright's body on a flight of stairs.

"I was very shocked and surprised, especially because he was 62 years old," Courtney Evans said. "Why would somebody want to kill a 62-year-old, let alone half of the people that get shot for crazy stuff?"

Anyone with any information about Wright's death is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.

Hollybrook has a history of criminal activity. News4Jax records show a man was charged with murder in November of 2015 after beating a toddler to death inside a unit. There was also a fire in March 2015 and a shooting in April 2009.

The complex now has security officers that check every vehicle that goes in the complex.
