Dozens of women report Target voyeur suspect

Jeffrey Polizzi has previous charges of video voyeurism

YULEE, Fla. – Jeffrey Polizzi is accused of approaching a woman in a Yulee Target and asking her inappropriate and indecent questions.

Candice Spivey took video that's gone viral. In the video, Spivey is seen chasing the man out of the store. She said the reason she pulled her phone out is because he's done it to her before, and now dozens of other women are telling police it's happened to them too.

The video has been viewed more than 1.5 million times on Facebook, and more than 24,000 people have shared it.

As of Monday, 50 women have reached out to investigators about Polizzi.

What Polizzi allegedly did in Target, according to the Nassau County Sheriff's Office, is not illegal, but it is disturbing, which is why police are asking women to come forward.

"He said, 'Get away from me,' or 'Stop, leave me alone' or something," Spivey said. "And that's when I just wanted to say, 'No, you need to leave everyone else alone!"

Spivey is no stranger to Polizzi. She said they had met two years ago at a Publix. She said that time he had two young boys with him.

"At first he is very believable," Spivey said. "At first he comes up and seems like he genuinely needs your help in regards of answering questions about a dress he bought for his wife."

But she said the conversation quickly gets awkward when he starts asking indecent questions about undergarments. She said he also asked her about her body, which is why when he approached her at Target she knew who he was before he even opened his mouth.

"He realized he had messed up, and that's when he turned around and took off running," Spivey said. "I chased him because I wanted to get information on who he was. I wanted the public to be aware of him. I wanted his tag number or a name, just some kind of something on him so people could be aware of this guy that's out here."

News4Jax found out Polizzi was arrested in 2009 on charges of video voyeurism and criminal mischief after being caught hiding a camera in his shoe, putting it under dressing room doors at Aqua East surf shop in Neptune Beach and recording women changing. He pleaded no contest to both charges, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

A woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she was inside one the dressing rooms when he stuck his shoe underneath the door.

"I looked down and thought immediately that I saw a camera lens, which is just weird," she said. "Yelled like that lady did, 'Did someone call the police?'"

Another woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she can vividly remember they day Polizzi approached her while she was grocery shopping in Jacksonville's Riverside neighborhood and asked her about her clothes.

"My particular dress I was wearing was a maxi dress that sparked a conversation into him purchasing clothing and a maxi dress for his wife, it being a very sheer material and being able to see through it and talking about undergarments and what she would and wouldn't be able to wear."

She said she answered him, not thinking much of it, until the questions got stranger.

"I began to realize it when he began to talk about her undergarments and comparing them to my undergarments, like what I would wear in a certain situation and then talked about her not wearing any undergarments at all," the woman said.

The woman said she left, but Polizzi came back with questions that were even more inappropriate, so bad that she left the store.

"I didn't feel comfortable at all with just leaving. I actually drove around the block several times because I was fearful that he might follow me. I did not get a good feeling about him at all," she said. "I just hope that, you know, they are able to build some sort of case against this because it's, you know, it makes people live in fear."

People on Facebook seem to now be well aware.

Even the Nassau County Sheriff's Office posted, "Omg, so many! Y'all please contact Det. Kelley, we want to keep a record. We appreciate it if you do"

"Protect yourself and use your best judgment," Spivey said. "You know what's wrong and what's right and when lines are being crossed. Don't let anybody take advantage of you either."

According to the Nassau County Sheriffs Office, Polizzi took off in his car and fled from police. They said he was later arrested and charged with driving recklessly. He has since bonded out.

If you have been approached by Polizzi, please contact Detective Kelley at 904-548-4074.
