Recently closed restaurant auctions off equipment

Latitude 360, near Avenues Mall, holds auction to pay off back taxes

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Latitude 360 held an auction Saturday, giving people the opportunity to own a piece of the recently closed restaurant. Latitude 360 was evicted from its location across from the Avenues Mall back in January.

Hundreds filled the restaurant looking for anything they might need. Saturday's auction was mostly restaurant and bar equipment.

For people that were there looking for particular items, there was a little bit of strategy involved.

"There's a couple of things that we have targeted and a couple of other things that we will just wait and see," said Sean Bowers, assistant general manager at Blue Typhoon Bar and Grill.

A new restaurant opening in the old Nippers location in Jacksonville Beach next week.

The restaurant is a 12,000 square-foot facility and Bowers says they have everything they need to open, but stocking up on extra supplies at the right price is never a bad thing.

"We’re just looking for some extra restaurant equipment to kind of fill in the gaps that we have acquired already, and take it over. We open up next week so just trying to get a couple of additional items and go from there," Bowers said

Tables, chairs, cups, plates and televisions were just part of what was up for auction

All money from the auction will be used to pay back delinquent taxes on the building, anything more than what is owed will go into an escrow account.

Auctioneer Luman Beasley said that it's important to know what you want and how much you are willing to spend.

"Tips for people out here, the more you pay for it, the more you were going to like it. Don't let anybody out bid you," Beasley jokingly said.

But seriously, "If you like it and you see it, if it's a unique item, get it because you might not have a chance again to get it," Beasley said.

The auction continues Sunday. The arcade equipment and movie theater equipment will all be auctioned off starting at 1 p.m.
