JSO: Victim identified in Northside shooting

Shooter has not been aprehended

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Benjamin Frazier, 47, died after a shooting Saturday night on the Northside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. on Moncrief Road and Voorhies Road, across the street from Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church.

Sgt. Michael Paul with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said police were called to the scene after a man in his 40s was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Discount Food Store.

"The owners heard at least one gunshot. The people inside heard what they thought was a gunshot or what appeared to be a gunshot outside. Everybody went outside to see what that was and (the) victim was lying in the parking lot," Paul said.

Detectives do not have a suspect description. They are looking for information from witnesses to track down the shooter.

"Hopefully some other people will come forward who did see something, who may not have stuck around and waited for the police to show up," Paul said.

According to Department of Corrections records, Frazier had a violent criminal history, and served time in prison for second degree murder. He was released in October 2010, according to DOC records.

Anyone with information is asked to contact JSO or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-866-845-TIPS.
