JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Families and individuals from across Jacksonville spent the night in cardboard boxes Friday, braving chilly temperatures, to raise awareness about the number of homeless families in the community.
The sixth annual Cardboard City fundraiser was held at the CrossRoad United Methodist Church on Gate Parkway North.

The group packed hygiene bags and slept in cardboard boxes and tents to raise money for Family Promise of Jacksonville, which is an organization that serves needy families by helping them return to employment and permanent housing.
