ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. – A woman was transported to the hospital and her dog was killed after her Atlantic Beach home caught on fire, according to the Atlantic Beach Fire Department.
Firefighters received the call around 4:35 a.m. Wednesday morning. The one story home on Dillard Road was engulfed in flames and covered with smoke when firefighters arrived. The woman was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Her dog died in the fire.
The state fire marshal is investigating the fire to determine the cause.
