No description found

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are searching for a gunman who shot a woman early Sunday morning during an armed carjacking outside a Westside nightclub.

Officers responding to Cocktails Bar and Lounge off Lane Avenue before 3 a.m. said the woman witnessed her husband being carjacked in the parking lot and rammed her car into her husband's vehicle, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The gunman jumped out of the car and shot the woman in the torso. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Kevin Charest has lived across the street from the strip club for three months and said he heard the shooting.

“I had heard, what I thought, was just a loud pop noise, you know,” Charest said.

Charest said although the strip club is across the street from his house, the neighborhood is mostly quite.

“The neighbors are awesome over here," Charest said. "I know it’s a strip club. I know it gets pretty wild, so on and so forth, but, for the most part, it’s pretty quiet.”

Police said the shooter got away. No description was available.

Although Charest said his neighborhood is relatively quite, according to Crimemapping.com, in the past 10 days there have been at least 10 burglaries, assaults or thefts in the area.
