Theresa Thomas, 63, who lived in the apartment complex, admitted to police at the time that she stabbed Hollis and directed police to the knife she used, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. She was arrested that day and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

On Wednesday, police charged Thomas with murder.

News4Jax learned that Thomas pleaded guilty in 1985 to second-degree murder in the death of her 3-week-old baby. Court records show she initially said the baby was hurt by an intruder, but later admitted she choked the baby.

Thomas was sentenced to 15 years in prison, but only served four years.
