Arrest made in Brunswick triple murder

22-year-old charged with murders of couple, adult grandson in June

BRUNSWICK, Ga. – A 22-year-old man has been charged in June's triple murder of a couple and their grandson in Brunswick, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced Tuesday.

Carson Holliman, 64, Vondell Holliman, 63, and their grandson, 24-year-old Christopher Holliman, were found shot to death June 18 in their Wolfe Street home. The GBI had offered a $15,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Months later, the GBI announced that Roger Owens has been charged with three counts of malice murder in their deaths. Owens was arrested Tuesday by GBI agents and the Brunswick Police Department.

Police found the couple and their grandson shot to death in the home after they did not show up for church and their friends became worried.

Neighbor Reginald Beckham said Owens periodically stayed with a relative right across the street, and Owens told him Monday that he was on the run from police.

"He came and had a few words with me and he was nervous. He was saying he was on the run for probation violation, but it wasn't making any sense," Beckham said. "So I told my neighbors that, 'I heard in the streets police are looking for him. I think you need to make a call to see what’s going on with him because he’s still hanging around this area.' I was spooked about it, but the cops came through today and they were like, 'We’re really looking for him.' And I said, 'You all just missed him.' She then road back through and said, 'We just picked him up.'"

Four miles away from the Hollimans' home, News4Jax spoke with the Pamela Jackson, the grandmother of Owens' child, who said police had also been at her house looking for him last week.

"That is so sad and I'm glad they got him, instead of him running," Jackson said.

Beckham and other neighbors also said they're glad an arrest was made.

"I’m glad this case is closed and they picked him up because those people didn’t deserve that," Beckham said.

Neighbors also told News4Jax that family member of the victims were cleaning out the house Monday.

The GBI has yet to reveal a motive, but neighbors said they strongly believe it might’ve been a robbery.

Agents said they are still investigating the deaths and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the GBI at 912-729-6198 or the Brunswick Police Department at 912-267-5516.

The GBI announcement did not say if anyone would be collecting the reward.
