Hollywood police search home in connection with death of pit bull found in suitcase

No one in custody, police say

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Hollywood police executed a search warrant Tuesday in connection with the death of a pit bull named Ollie who was found badly injured in a suitcase last month, Hollywood police spokeswoman Miranda Grossman said.

The search warrant was executed at a home in the 1900 block of Lee Street

Grossman said no one is in custody and the investigation is ongoing.

Police said the 1-year-old pit bull was found Oct. 10 stuffed inside a suitcase behind an abandoned building.

Ollie died Oct. 12 at the VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital.

No description found

Hollywood police said the dog's paw was sticking out of the suitcase when officers found Ollie about 1 a.m. Oct. 10 behind 1945 Lee St.

Ollie had severe lacerations to the top of his head and body.

It was later determined that Ollie had been stabbed and beaten.

Ollie's story quickly went viral after he was rescued.

"People from all over the country and a couple of international people have reached out to let us know they have seen Ollie's story and they are pulling for him," said Dr. Nicole Patterson, a veterinarian at Hollywood Animal Hospital.

Broward County Crime Stoppers has increased the reward for information that leads to the arrest of the person or people who ultimately killed Ollie to $34,800. Hollywood police said the police department cannot account for any agencies or individuals who are independently offering additional rewards.

Tipsters may remain anonymous when calling Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
