Former elementary school teacher charged with 10 counts of child porn

Dennis John Langevin, 67, being held on $500,000 bond

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A former public school teacher was arrested Friday on 10 counts of possession of child pornography.

Dennis John Langevin, 67, of Orange Park, is being held in the Clay County jail on $500,000 bond.

News4Jax has learned Langevin worked at an elementary school for decades.

Last month, News4Jax was at the scene when federal agents and Clay County sheriff's deputies raided his apartment on Loring Avenue near Park Avenue, which is located across the street from a private school.

"I do not give you permission to cover this story because it may involve me, and I do not give you permission," Langevin told News4Jax in October as he left the complex.

At that time, he was not under arrest, but was under investigation. A month later, he's charged with 10 counts of child porn possession.

"I had no idea," said Joe Colosi, a downstairs neighbor who was there when detectives raided Langevin's home.

On Tuesday, no one was at the apartment, as Langevin was in jail and News4Jax was told he lived alone.

Colosi said he spoke with Langevin after the raid.

"He seemed like he was apologetic, you know? He wanted to, kind of, make amends and everything that he did," Colosi said. "He said there were probably some things that he probably shouldn't have been doing."

On his social media profiles, Langevin writes that he worked for the Clay County School District for 35 years, from 1977 until 2012, and he says he taught at W.E. Cherry Elementary School in Orange Park.

News4Jax got a hold of yearbooks from the past and found pictures of Langevin inside them. The yearbooks had photo after photo of him with his students. News4Jax also learned he was active in his church and sang in the band.

"(Thinking about him being an elementary school teacher), that's the hard part," Colosi said. "That's really the hard part."

Most of Langevin's arrest report is blacked out, meaning investigators aren't releasing all the details just yet. But neighbors said they're glad authorities are taking action.

If he is convicted, Langevin could spend the rest of his life behind bars.
