JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Thanksgiving Day murder in the Englewood neighborhood brought the number of people killed in Jacksonville this year to 121, according to News4Jax records.
With more than a month left in the year, the city has already surpassed the number of homicides for all of 2016.
News4Jax has been tracking the Jacksonville homicides and trying to put faces to each case.

Among those killed have been nine children under the age of 16, including one unborn baby, a 1-month-old girl and a 5-month-old boy. Three of those children were killed in shootings involving another child pulling the trigger.
At least 11 women have been killed by men in cases of domestic violence this year, and seven of those killed were shot by police officers in varying situations, including three in one month (August).
There were 25 homicides reported in the first two months of 2017, another 19 in March and April, 13 in May, 20 in June and July, 11 in August, nine in September, 12 in October and another dozen so far in November.
ZIP code comparison
Because of its documented history of violence, it's not surprising the ZIP code with the most homicides has been 32209 in Northwest Jacksonville, where 22 people have been killed this year. The ZIP code includes the Grand Park, College Gardens and Royal Terrace neighborhoods.
The next closest was ZIP code 32210 on Jacksonville's Westside with 13.
Of the ZIP codes with double-digit homicides, the most eye-catching was 32246 on Jacksonville's Southside, where 11 people have been killed, including six women.
The 32246 ZIP code has an L-shape to it, and includes the Windy Hill, Southside Estates, Sandalwood, Park Ridge and Golden Glades/The Woods neighborhoods.
Of the 11 homicide cases in those neighborhoods, five resulted in arrest, two were part of a double-murder suicide, one was shot by a SWAT sniper and one was ruled a justifiable shooting.
By comparison, of the 22 homicide cases in 32209, only five have been solved, only one did not involve a shooting, and only three were female victims.
The average age of those killed in 32209 is 28, while the average age of those killed in 32246 is 33. Two of those killed on the Southside were women over the age of 70.
