What do you see as the top three issues in this race?
The importance of following the rule of law despite any outside pressure; the importance of making decisions promptly; and the importance of approaching the disposition of cases with the knowledge and humility that lives can be profoundly affected.
How can you help voters in a way that others running for this office cannot?
Hundreds of trials and thousands of courtroom appearances in 35 plus years of practice; employment experience ranging from a large firm to the state attorney's office under Ed Austin to a name partner in a small to medium firm to a solo practitioner to having own firm and making a payroll; experience in both criminal and civil practice from cases ranging from the simple to very complex, I have the depth and breadth of experience to handle any kind of case; for over 20 years having the highest rating among my peers for competency and ethics; leadership in over 20 community organizations; and extensive experience drafting and passing legislation in 9 years as a legislator including chairing the Justice Appropriations Subcommittee to the full Judiciary Committee.
What would you hope to be remembered for accomplishing after serving in this office?
That each person who comes before the court, regardless of the outcome, will not only know that he or she has been treated fairly, but will have been heard and listened to without favor or bias.
