Deputies still working to track down Brandon Calloway

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Deputies with the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office are working to track down one of two men wanted for questioning after a deadly shooting Friday evening in St Augustine.

Sgt. Gene Tolbert said investigators received a call just after 5 p.m. in reference to the shooting near the intersection of Herbert and Christopher streets. When they arrived, deputies found the body of Lavert Durden, 28, near the side of the road.

Investigators are working to track down one of two persons of interest wanted for questioning. Tolbert said Brandon Calloway, 30, and Traevon Watson, 21, were in a heated argument with the victim shortly before he was killed. The two were not said to be suspects.

Watson was located and was questioned by investigators.

Calloway goes by the nickname B.C. and has connections to Putnam, Flagler and Duval counties, Tolbert said.

Anyone who knows where Calloway might be are urged to contact the St. Johns County Sheriffs Office at 904-824-8304 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS.
