MACCLENNY, Fla. – Baker County Sheriff's Office has identified the woman's body found Friday morning along Railroad Avenue West just south of U.S. 90 in Baker County not far from Heritage Park.
Investigators identified 27-year-old Brittney Shavay Gover, of Jacksonville, and will investigate her death as a homicide.
A city worker picking up trash along the road stumbled across her body in the grass along the railroad tracks in the residential area.
The man said he tried to help the woman, but when he checked her pulse, he knew she was gone. He said he did not notice any gunshot or knife wounds but said she had marks on her head that suggested violence.
Deputies believe foul play is involved in the woman's death, though they have not said how she died.
Deputies do not believe Gover was killed where she was found but think instead that her body was dumped there.
The Medical Examiner has taken the body to investigate and determine the woman's identity and her cause of death.
Jordan Tallan lives across the street with his girlfriend and their boys. They woke up to see police lights out their window.
"What if one of the boys got out to get into the car before we did and would have seen it. That’s not something we want them to see," Tallan said. "That is traumatizing for a lot of people."
When Tallan came home overnight, nothing was out of the ordinary.
"I came home around 12:30 last night and there was nothing there that I could see," Tallan said. "I mean you would think if something happened here you would hear it."
