Man shot, killed at convenience store on Beaver Street, police say

JSO looking for dark gray 4-door Nissan with repair work near tire panel

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was shot and killed just outside a Westside convenience store Sunday afternoon.

Jacksonville homicide detectives said the man was killed near the corner of Beaver and St. Clair streets around 3:30 p.m.

Police are looking for a dark gray, 4-door Nissan with silver rims that has recent repair work near the rear tire panel of the car. Detectives said there were several men in the car.

There were witnesses at the gas station at the time of the shooting who were interviewed.

Investigators are trying to determine if just one person or several opened fire at the victim. He was identified as Rashad Dazel, 21.

Brett Corte was at a family barbecue across the street when he heard six shots go off.

"We had to go check up at the store and make sure all the kids are accounted for and everything," Corte said.  Three kids as young as three-years-old were playing outside when Corte said things turned to panic."I know it was scary for the kids because they were all running," Corte added. "Every kid, family and friend were running from the store when it came out."

This is the second shooting at a gas station this weekend. Another man was shot at an Arlington gas station around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, but he's expected to survive his wounds.
