Man shot at Westside home has life-threatening injuries

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man shot at a Westside home on Friday has life-threatening injuries, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reported.

Officers were called to Seaboard Avenue off Timaquana Road around 3:15 a.m. where the shooting took place. The injured man was rushed to the hospital.

A man told News4Jax his kids were at the home during the shooting.

News4Jax crews on the scene saw detectives with flashlights canvassing the yard. Crews also saw several people, including at least two kids, in front of the home talking with police.

A resident who did not want to be identified said she's lived there on and off since the 70's and has seen the crime rise. She said it's like a "warzone. You don't know what's gonna happen next."

According to JSO, in a separate incident from August 2017, a deadly officer involved shooting happened at this same home. JSO said two officers responded to the home and were shot trying to rescue three women inside from a gunman. Police said the man fired at police and officers fired back, killing the gunman. One of the officers was shot in both hands and the other officer was shot in the stomach.

Anyone with information about the overnight deadly shooting is urged to call JSO at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous and possibly qualify for a reward, call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS (8644).
