A startling discovery was made at a North Carolina amusement park on Friday.

Parkgoer Jeremy Wagner looked up the Fury 325 ride while walking around and found a crack at the top of a steel pole.

Wagner took a video of the crack to show guest services. The video shows that as riders come around the corner, the crack appears to expand and contract.

Wagner told CNN he also called the Charlotte Fire Department. The department called him back 10 minutes later to inform him the ride had been shut down.

Wagner said his daughter and niece went on the ride six times.

In an email to CNN, Carowinds said all rides are inspected daily, and the fury will remain closed until repairs have been completed.

The Fury is the longest steel coaster in North America reaching speeds of 95 miles an hour, according to the Carowinds website.
