Clouds build tonight ahead of Thanksgiving rain

Black Friday will be wet to start

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Today was beautiful, under partly cloudy skies we topped out in the mid 70s. We can expect building clouds this evening ahead of chances for rain on Thanksgiving.

We may see patchy dense fog develop tonight as we cool into the upper 50s and low 60s.

Thanksgiving starts with mostly cloudy skies and cool temperatures. Rain chances spread from the West to the East starting along I-75 by the mid morning hours and reaching I-95 by the mid day. The waves of showers will push across the state with the most frequent and heaviest rain in our Southern counties. North of the State line will be a little less wet, but showers are still possible. Expect northeast winds between 7-12mph. Rain chances continues into the evening and overnight hours, which could make the late Thanksgiving/Black Friday shopping damp, and the dark roadways slick.

Because of the cloud cover, daytime heating will be limited to top out in the mid to upper 60s.

Rainfall totals through Friday vary, we have to potential to pick up 1-2" of rain area wide, with the heaviest rainfall totals between 2-4".  Heavy rainfall may be a travel concern- please be careful out on the roadways.

On Black Friday, we will most likely start out wet. Expect cloudy skies with showers, and slow clearing during the late afternoon and evening hours.  Wake up temperatures will be in the upper 40s to 50s across Southeast Georgia, and in the upper 50s, 60s for Northeastern Florida.  Afternoon highs will top out in the upper 60s to low 70s.  Winds will be gusty, out of the northeast between 12-17mph.

The weekend look beautiful, with partly cloudy skies on Saturday, temperatures will warm into the upper 60s and low 70s, with no chances for showers.

Sunday will be sunny and cool, starting in the upper 40s and low 50s, and warming into the mid to upper 60s for the afternoon hours.
