ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Progress continues in a the future-Durbin Park development that will bring a much different look to northern St Johns County. The development will bring housing, retail and restaurants to an area that continues to grow.
Most of the area is already cleared out. In just a few months, crews have cleaned out much of what will be the first phase of the project with much more coming in the not too distant future.
Since last year, the project, located just west of I-95 and south of Race Track Road. Early next year, building “upward” of some of the first stores will begin. The first phase of Durbin Park is on schedule to open in early 2019. Already, a Wal Mart and Home Depot have been announced as stores coming to Phase 1 of the project. Phase 2 will include a previously announced Bass Pro Shops.
Eventually, the 1700 acre project will include hotels, entertainment spots like a movie theater, restaurants, and other anchor stores. Construction on the State Road 9B project in the area is still ongoing.
News4Jax has learned that negotiations are still ongoing with companies about bringing them to the various phases of the project, but right now, the developers are not ready to make any additional announcements.
