OCALA, Fla. – A trailer filled with 40,000 pounds of potato chips caught fire in Ocala on Thursday.
Ocala Fire Rescue responded after receiving reports of a vehicle fire off Silver Springs Boulevard.
Engines 3 and 4, Rescue 3, Tower 1, and Battalion 11, arrived to find an unlikely scenario unfolding: a detached trailer filled with approximately 40,000 pounds of potato chips burning.
The trailer did not cause damage to the truck or nearby structures, the department said on social media.
Using a high-capacity jet stream -- crews extinguished the fire.
We are sure the chip company is extra salty about this inventory loss.
No injuries were reported.
