FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – A woman and her child were rescued in Florida’s Flagler County on January 5, after the car they were in plunged into a ditch and became partially submerged, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
Bodycam footage posted to Facebook by the sheriff’s office shows deputies along with firefighters rescuing the pair.
According to the post, deputies responded to a crash involving two adults and a small child after their vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a ditch filled with water. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a “dazed and bleeding man” outside the vehicle while a woman and small child were both trapped inside the vehicle just above the waterline.
“Deputies forced entry into the car and, with the aid of firefighters from the Palm Coast Fire Department that had arrived to assist, pulled the child out of the partially submerged car,” the sheriff’s office said.
“The child, who was alert and conscious, was turned over to firefighters and paramedics for evaluation and treatment. Deputies then worked as a team with firefighters to rescue the female from the vehicle,” they continued.
All occupants were transported to AdventHealth-Palm Coast for treatment and the crash investigation was turned over to the Florida Highway Patrol, they added. The cause was not disclosed.
