Bubba the turtle back home after months of rehabilitation

ST. LUCIE, Fla. – After months of rehabilitation at the Brevard Zoo, Bubba, the 375-pound loggerhead sea turtle, was returned to the ocean, according to the zoo.

The zoo posted a video on its Facebook, showing Bubba being carried off of a truck by five people while curious onlookers can be seen in the background watching Bubba as he is released.

He was found by biologists south of the zoo in St Lucie County on April 10 with both of his flippers injured. Bubba was pulled out of the water using a crane due to his size. He was also found to be anemic.

He spent three months in rehabilitation at the Zoo’s Sea Turtle Healing Center.

He is believed to be between 60 to 75 years old.
