FHP: Deputy hurt in crash with 17-year-old driver

BAKER COUNTY, Fla. – A Baker County deputy suffered minor injuries Sunday night when a 17-year-old driver turned in the path of his patrol cruiser, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The teen, Timothy Williams, also suffered minor injuries in the crash, troopers said.

Williams and Deputy Jacob Daniel Satterwhite, 31, were treated at Fraser Memorial.

According to the FHP report, Williams tried to turn left onto Copper Creek Drive from North County Road 23A and turned into the path of Satterwhite's cruiser. Satterwhite tried to avoid the collision and drove off the road onto the shoulder, hitting several brick and concrete objects, troopers said.

Williams has been cited for an improper left turn.
