CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A Green Cove Springs man is facing three felony counts of distributing child pornography over the internet.
Kevin Steedley, 27, was arrested at his home Wednesday following an investigation that began last month.
According to a five-page arrest report, the case against Steedley began June 12, when a Clay County detective was conducting an online investigation into people sharing child pornography.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office said it was during the course of the investigation when Steedley's IP address started raising major flags.
The detective used that IP address to access child porn videos on Steedley's computer, the arrest report said.
According to the investigator, there were girls between the ages of 4 and 15 appearing in those videos.
News4Jax crime and safety analyst Gil Smith explained how detectives are able to determine an age range of the victims by sight.
"They can just look at the child and look at the approximate height and weight, and sometimes their physical developments, to be able to tell their age," Smith said. "If the person is talking, the tone of their voice and, sometimes, their vocabulary gives them an approximate age."
Details of what the girls were doing in the videos were redacted from the report.
On Wednesday, detectives, armed with a search warrant, arrived at Steedley's Green Cove Springs home. What they found at the home and what Steedley told detectives were also redacted from the report.
Steedley was booked into the Clay County Jail and ordered held on $75,000 bond.
If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison on each felony charge.
