Flagler County closes on westside fire station property

New fire station will be near corner of SR 100, CR 305

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – Flagler County has closed on property near the intersection of State Road 100 and County Road 305 for its future westside fire station.

A large, 12,000-square-foot building with an attached 8,000-square-foot lean-to area already sits on the 25.48-acre parcel. The building will be modified into a fire station to serve western Flagler County.

Commission Chair Nate McLaughlin made the announcement Thursday during his town hall meeting in Daytona North.

“I have been working for a better solution for the west side of our county,” McLaughlin said. “I’m very proud of Flagler County staff in their persistence to improve how we provide services throughout the county.”

The total cost to acquire the property was $625,000. The purchase also includes several free-standing structures and is fenced on several sides with chain-link.

“Every major wildfire has come from the west side of the county,” Flagler County Fire Rescue Chief Don Petito said. “It is a great asset to serve as the base for these firefighting operations.”
