BRUNSWICK, Ga. – The Office of the Secretary of State hosted an Election Security Tabletop exercise on Wednesday in Glynn County.

Regional election officials, law enforcement and partners conducted mock election security exercises at the Glynn County Emergency Management building in Brunswick.

As of Wednesday, the Nov. 5 election was 77 days away.

“We believe that close communication and coordination between election officials and law enforcement is mutually beneficial and supports elections integrity,” said Blake Evans, elections director with the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office. “And it’s more important than ever right now with the heightened sense of tension and environment around the elections process.”

The group discussed operational plans and response scenarios for upcoming elections.

The exercise was broken into three parts:

  1. Leading up to election day
  2. After voting begins
  3. On election night

They spent time in small groups discussing each topic before having a larger discussion with the entire group.
