WOODBINE, Ga. – Three people were injured following what Camden County deputies said was an active shooter incident on Wednesday afternoon.
The Camden County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident near the Kinlaw Road and Harrietts Bluff Road intersection in Woodbine, Georgia, just before 4:30 p.m. The area is just west of I-95.
The sheriff’s office said three people were shot and taken to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown.
At least one deputy was involved, the sheriff’s office said.
CCSO did not provide any further details about the shooting, but the agency said the scene was secured and there was no “ongoing threat” to the community.
The sheriff’s office did not specify if any arrests were made, but sources told News4JAX that the shooter was in custody.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will be taking the lead in the investigation.
“We understand the concern this incident has caused in our community,” Camden County Sheriff Kevin Chaney said. “Our thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
