GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. – Glynn County’s Hotel/Motel Tax will rise from 5% to 7% beginning July 1, 2025, following the signing of House Bill 732 by Gov. Brian Kemp on May 1.

The new rate applies to all qualifying room nights starting July 1, even if reservations were made or prepaid before that date.

According to a press release, the increase is a coordinated effort between county commissioners, local tourism stakeholders, and the state, aiming to boost investment in Glynn County’s tourism infrastructure without raising property tax millage rates.

The tax applies only to accommodations in Glynn County and does not affect properties within the City of Brunswick or Jekyll Island.

Third-party booking platforms like Expedia and Booking.com are responsible for collecting and remitting the updated rate.

Under state law, the revenue will be allocated as follows:

  • 42.59% to the Convention and Visitors Bureau for marketing,
  • 42.59% to Glynn County for recreation, infrastructure, and capital projects,
  • 14.82% toward tourism product development.
